Welcome to Colorado: A Client Success Story

In Active Lifestyle Living, Buyers, Homeowners, Sellers by Doug Phelps

The greatest joy I get in doing real estate as a profession is the impact I can make in helping families move from a life they have to a life they dream about. This is even more delightful when a past client refers me to a work colleague relocating from out of state to the Denver area.

In the Summer of 2022, a local firm sought a new CEO to lead the company. A search ensued and after a bit of time, the right candidate was found. An offer was made to Mike, and he accepted. A co-worker, Jessica, who I had the delight in helping move her family a year earlier, told Mike I was the perfect guy to help him and his family find a Colorado home. Jessica told me, “I always jump at any opportunity to refer you!”

Mike, his wife Rachel, and their family began the process to sell their Arizona home so that they could make the transition to life in Colorado. At the same time, we began a search for a home in the Denver metro area to meet their needs and wants. Traveling to Denver from time to time was a part of the process, as well as FaceTime and other video means.

Activity extended into the Fall, both in Arizona and here. The market in Arizona was a little slower than Denver so selling the existing home took some time. As if home shopping, selling and moving wasn’t enough, Mike was traveling in his new role. Needless to say, it was a lot to juggle. Finally, a buyer for their home in Arizona was found. Mike and Rachel came to Denver for the weekend right after their home sold, so we could view several houses our search had identified as possible matches.

We toured them all, evaluating the pros and cons of each. We considered making offers on a couple of homes but finally we chose our top choice and went for it. Offer accepted! Jessica was thrilled for Mike and Rachel. I communicated at every turn and helped them maneuver through everything in order to make for a smooth transaction and the best outcome for all. We worked through the necessary steps of property inspection, conversations and negotiations, and closings in Arizona and here were just days apart as the holiday season approached. Success!

All parties achieved the outcomes they wanted even amid obstacles, doing things from out of state and navigating fast life changes. Moreover, Mike and Rachel made the move to a Colorado home and to a community they love. And, as with Jessica, I have another client advocate ready and eager to refer me to a new family seeking to make home happen. I give thanks for my experiences and wonderful people like each of them who continue to nurture and grow me as a professional. Through each experience and connection, I become more and more of who I am meant to be.
