5 Things to Do on Sunday to Prepare for the Week Ahead

In Who is Doug? by Doug Phelps

While Sundays are great for playing some golf, relaxing by the pool, hitting the slopes, or watching football, it’s also important to remember Sundays mark the start of a new week. As such, there are many things you can do on Sunday afternoon that will make the work week that much more manageable. Here are 5 things to add to your Sunday routine to help you prepare for the week ahead.

Make a To-Do List

One of the best things you can do to prepare for the week is to know what’s coming. Start by checking your calendar and making sure you know what kind of activities you have coming up in the week ahead. This will help you manage your time.

Next, think about creating a “to-do” list for the upcoming week. There are many different ways to go about crafting your to-do list, from prioritizing by deadline, to organizing by category, to even listing tasks out day by day. If you’re new to list-making, you may have to experiment until you find the best system for you.

If you are feeling especially motivated, list 3 things you plan to accomplish on Monday. That way, you’re already setting yourself up for a feeling of focus and accomplishment to start of your week.

Meal Prep

Meal prepping can be an awesome way to save yourself time and energy throughout the week. Create a plan for dinners for the week and go grocery shopping so you have everything you need. Also, prep your lunches. It will save you money on what you’d normally spend eating out, and it will be much healthier. You can even prep meals in large batches and freeze them to use throughout the month and beyond.

Clean and Organize

Start your Monday off refreshed and ready to go. Organize your electronics and home office space so you don’t feel overwhelmed and cluttered. Tidy up your house and get caught up on laundry, so you won’t have to worry about it later in the week. If you’re feeling extra motivated, you can even plan your outfits for the week. This will spare you precious minutes in the mornings.

Take Time for Yourself

Your Sunday doesn’t have to be all about getting things done. Sometimes, the best thing you can do to prepare for the week is take a little time for yourself. Do some self-care, read a book, binge watch your favorite TV show, or take a nice, long walk outside. Whatever will leave you feeling rejuvenated and ready to tackle what awaits you throughout the week.

Go to Bed Early

Getting a good night’s sleep is perhaps the easiest way to start your week off right. Shut off your electronics early in the evening and give yourself some time to relax before bed with a good book or a bath. Get to bed early and feel great in the morning.
