Children’s Museum of Denver

The Children’s Museum of Denver is an excellent way to spend time with kids 10 and under. Take advantage of the hands-on environment that offers over a dozen “playscapes,” including a veterinary clinic, a fire department, an interactive grocery store, and a junior assembly plant. There’s also a large outdoor play area perfect for warm summer days.

History Colorado Center

The History Colorado Center provides visitors with an immersive, high-tech experience while exploring Colorado’s rich history. Exhibits are interactive and media-driven. There are also a plethora of artifacts to check out, as well as several play environments.

Downtown Aquarium

The Downtown Aquarium boasts over one million gallons of underwater wonder. You’ll see plenty of colorful sea life, and even have a chance to pet stingrays in an interactive touch tank. Watch the Mystic Mermaids live show or check out the 4D theater experience. Your whole family will love eating at the Aquarium Restaurant, dining with a floor-to-ceiling aquarium as your backdrop.

Denver Museum of Nature and Science

The Denver Museum of Nature and Science in City Park has several amazing permanent exhibits where your family can learn about outer space space, beautiful gems and minerals, the human body, and even dinosaurs. You can also catch a show at the IMAX or planetarium. And, several visiting exhibits each year mean there’s always something new.

Denver Zoo

The Denver Zoo, also in City Park, houses more than 4,000 animals of 650 different species. Different areas of the zoo include Bear Mountain, the Giraffe Encounter, Predator Ridge, Primate Panorama, the Toyota Elephant Pagoda, and many more. There are also opportunities to watch live feedings and to experience up-close animal encounters. Keep an eye out for special events throughout the year, like Zoo Lights and Boo at the Zoo.

Denver Botanic Gardens

The stunning Denver Botanic Gardens is open year round. You’ll also enjoy all kinds of events and programming, from concerts and art installations, to special classes and learning opportunities. The children’s garden is great for the little ones.

Elitch Gardens Theme and Water Park

Elitch Gardens Theme and Water Park is the ultimate package in fun and thrills. The amusement park boasts 53 rides and attractions, including a kiddie park and a water park with slides and a wave pool, as well as plenty of roller coasters. The park also does special events like Dive-In Movies, free concerts, fireworks, and a month-long Fright Fest in October.

While people often joke about the quality of the food, Casa Bonita is a great experience the whole family will enjoy. Enjoy watching cliff divers and fire jugglers while you eat. Then explore the immense complex, with puppet shows, arcade games, old-fashioned photos, and a scary journey through Black Bart’s cave.

Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum

Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum is located at what used to be Lowry Airforce Base. The museum has over 50 aircraft on display, as well as flight simulators and exhibits on space exploration and Colorado astronauts. The museum also offers a number of special events throughout the year, as well as youth educational programs.

The Wild Animal Sanctuary

The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg is actually the world’s largest carnivore sanctuary, with over 450 rescued animals, including lions, tigers, bears, wolves, crocodiles, and more. You’ll love watching the animals from an elevated walkway. You’ll also be supporting these amazing rescued animals.
